Annual Testing with CHSG

The NC state law requires each home school to administer a nationally standardized achievement test, or other nationally standardized equivalent measure to all students. The state does not dictate which test must be given or who is to administer it. If your students are younger than 7, or older than 16 and not desiring to drive, they are not required to be listed on the "Notice of Intent" form and therefore are not required to be tested.

We are happy to have you test with Central Homeschool Group if you meet these eligibility requirements:

  1. Families must be active members of CHSG by October 1.
  2. Members will hold a CHSG job.
  3. Your child must be registered with the state of NC if you are a NC resident or you must fulfill SC law if you are a resident of that state.
  4. Your child must be 7 years old by May 31 of the testing year.
  5. You must assist with testing if your children are all of testing age.

If you find yourself unable to test with the group, tests may also be ordered and administered individually. Below are sources of some of the commonly used tests. The first two are designed for group testing and are available for all grade levels.
